TVA energy audits, appliance rebates
provide energy savings and rebates
Home energy audits supervised by the Tennessee Valley Authority, as well as an appliance rebate program to be overseen by TVA are designed to save Tennessee homeowners money. The appliance rebate program - only applicable to air-source heat pumps, central air conditioners, and room air conditioners, is scheduled to begin in late June.
The appliance rebate in Tennessee is fairly limited, offering $250 for EnergyStar® air conditioners and heat pumps and $40 for EnergyStar® window air conditioners. For more information visit www.tnecd.gov/recovery/energystar.html.
You can easily arrange a home energy audit by calling TVA or your local electricity provider. Programs in place allow you to receive an energy audit for $150 in most areas. If you follow up by having work done by one of the companies on an approved list and the recommended work costs more than $150, the fee will be reimbursed. Plus, you will be reimbursed 50% of the installation cost up to $500. In areas served by the Tennessee Valley Authority you can call 866-441-1430.
A number of improvements qualify for varying reimbursement amounts, ranging from water heater insulation ($50 cash incentive) to Energy Star windows ($500 cash incentive). Also on the list are storm windows, duct repair/replacement/sealing, some HVAC replacements, attic insulation, non-powered attic ventilation, exterior wall insulation, air sealing, and more. Call 1-866-441-1430 to arrange an in-house home evaluation by a TVA-certified evaluator. You can read more about eligibility and requirements at:
