holiday show homes - benefit Make A Wish

Organic draperies, exotic granites, whimsical children’s rooms, and Tiffany blue and chocolate colors are just some of the inspiring design ideas at this year’s only premier new home tour. The Make-A-Wish Holiday Home Show at the Kings’ Chapel community in Arrington will be open daily from November 28 through December 6. All of the gate proceeds will benefit the worthy kids’ charity.

Dressed for the holidays, the five homes are on a cul-de-sac in the gated-community located just minutes from the I-65 Franklin/ Murfreesboro Exit and moments away from the I-840 Arrington Exchange.

If you’re looking for inspiration for a child’s room, check out the Dreams Come True kids bedrooms based on the most popular actual wishes of critically ill children. Designers have taken these wishes and transformed them into adorable themed bedrooms. Many of them sport Silent Auction items like a guitar in the Blalock-built home from country music artist Chuck Wicks and Dancing With The Stars alum Julianne Hough.
“A Night On The Nashville Predators’ Bench,” is a hockey-themed tribute room to Chase Donnell, a brave Murfreesboro boy who lost his battle but continues to be honored by donations to MAW.  With bold team colors and fun accessories, the room, by designer Donna Henninger with builder Bob Sloan, features a  mural of Chase sitting on the Predators’ bench by faux artisan Brooks Tucker. The home has a signed Predators’ jersey as its Silent Auction item.

Tucker’s Old World metallic finishes and distressed leather walls are featured  in the dining room and study. Furniture from John Richard’s includes an aged eglomise table in the home’s foyer. Tim Causey of ReCreations has spun holiday magic with custom floral creations.
Organic, burlap draperies custom to a room’s décor are being featured for the first time by designer Branan White of Revival Home Inspirations, in his lush interpretation of an English Country home built by Kris Blalock. The vaulted-ceiling study also has a custom faux painted desk flanked by a pair of antique French Country chairs with imaginative burlap coffee sacks as upholstery. White has created a princess-themed child’s room complete with diamonds and tiaras.

The home also has dimensional Amber Wallace artwork, clever re-purposed home furnishings and granite counters on the heavily distressed pistachio green kitchen cabinets.

Green living is an important part of the charming Tudor Revival created by Tennessee Valley Homes builder Chris Franks with designers McClain Holloway and Michael Pleasant. From low-VOC paints, glue, and sealants to locally generated materials, the home is a beautiful blend of green living and sophistication. Incredible trim work throughout as well as the home’s shutters and mantels have been created by Tennessee Valley carpenter Vasyl “Fossil” Melchenko.

The outdoor living area has a brick fireplace and hand-hewn wooden mantel. Throughout the home, you can see wonderful artwork from Mark English and charming accessories from The Nest. The stunning holiday décor has been created by Harpeth True Value.
Shades of espresso, cream, and kiwi green are found in the nursery of the European-inspired Classical Revival home by builder Chip Walker and designer Teena Bivings. The nursery’s beautiful furniture and bedding are from Franklin’s Once Upon A Child. A Titans teen room features a mural by noted artist Leigh Ann Agee.

Gorgeous furniture from J.J. Ashley’s is complimented by the faux artistry of award-winning artist William Bell. Bell is premiering a new style of faux art he calls “A Warm Glow of Dancing Venetian Plaster” applied in a non-directional texture with multiple translucent spectrum foils.
“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is a little girl’s fantasy room of swirling Tiffany blue and chocolate accents, produced by designer Kristen Finney with Ken Staley. The beautiful French Eclectic home features furniture from ReCreations and faux finishes and clever stenciling by faux artisan Keith Wheatley. The gourmet kitchen focuses on a granite-topped island. Bungalow, Devine Décor and Once Upon A Child in Murfreesboro have have provided furnishings throughout the home. Holiday touches are added by Kris Bagbey of the Bagbey House of Franklin.

The Make-A-Wish Holiday Home Show at Kings’ Chapel will be open daily November 28-December 6 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the last ticket sold at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $10 and will be available at the show site with free on-site parking. “Designers Night” is being held on Tuesday, December 1 from 4 p.m. until closing where designers from the homes will be on-site to answer decorating questions. Each Saturday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. there will be an Arrington Vineyards wine tasting included in the ticket price. Realtors presenting a business card are half price throughout the event.
