Lee Jofa introduces the Lodge Collection
Lee Jofa recently announced the launch of Eric Cohler's latest collection of fabrics, the Lodge Collection. Inspired by his travels to great lodges around the world, especially Africa, Cohler designed this collection to reflect the sense of adventure and romance of travel he experienced exploring exotic destinations.
"I wanted to create a collection that had the flavor of a great house outside Nairobi in the 1930s, filled with wonderful antiques, textiles, and native carvings. Think Out of Africa and Karen Blixen," says Cohler.
For inspiration he traveled to lodges and great camps from the Western United States to Kenya and Tanzania in Africa, and he explored the Kreuger National Park in South Africa, as well.
The Lodge Collection conveys the romantic notion of a retreat, of a destination. By bringing this feeling into the home, Cohler is drawing upon his signature flair for mixing antiques and more traditional pieces with contemporary elements to create interiors full of color, texture, and, above all, comfort.
The fabrics can be used in new and innovative ways: try paper-backing the fabric for wall covering or think of the ceiling as the "fifth wall" and use a bold print there. The linens will upholster beautifully and the stripes will look terrific run on the horizontal.
